- The Senate voted overwhelmingly to 34-4 to allow smokable medical marijuana
- The Scooter bill (which would allow cities to regulate scooters like bikes) passed its House committee vote unanimously
What a difference a year makes. A year ago, Florida’s governor was pressing legal action to prevent smokable medical marijuana in our state. A year later with a new governor who’s supportive to the point where he stated he’d act on the issue himself if the state legislature didn’t... Well, you see the vote. Next week the vote goes to the House where it’s almost certain it’ll pass as well.
Elsewhere the Scooter bill advanced passed its first committee vote. Scooters are generally either loved or hated by communities, so it’s actually a fairly polarizing issue. Should the bill pass it’d enable municipal governments to regulate the scooters as they see fit. A la treating them as bikes. More to come...
