  • Florida is appealing the recent court ruling striking down the accountability measures for local officials who violate Florida’s “preemption” law preventing local governments from enacting stricter gun control measures than the state
  • Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar released a drug importation plan called the Safe Importation Action Plan. This provides the conditions with which importation of prescribed drugs would be acceptable in the United States at the direction of President Trump. This follows through on a promise made to Governor DeSantis by the administration as Florida passed its law to allow for the importation of drugs from Canada in this year’s session. It’s now open, for public comment and review. 
  • The group proposing recreational marijuana use in Florida, Regulate Florida, has announced they’ve collected more than 76,632 verified signatures for their proposed constitutional amendment for Florida’s 2020 ballot. That’s the initial threshold required for the Florida Supreme Court to consider the proposed language for possible inclusion on next year’s ballot.
