- ACA health insurance plans purchased through the exchange are expected to cost approximately the same for 2020 as they did in 2019 in Florida based on a report from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. This is based in part on increased insurance options being available in the state.
- Four former employees of the Hollywood Hills Rehabilitation Center were charged for the wrongful deaths of patients left to die of exposure after hurricane Irma. They are Chief Administrator Jorge Carballo, Supervising Nurse Sergo Colin and nurses Althia Meggie and Tamika Miller
- Polling firm Fabrizio, Lee & Associates, said 67% of Floridians polled approve of legalizing recreational marijuana giving a boost to the three organizations currently working towards getting the proposal on Florida’s 2020 ballot. Only 60% support would pass the measure if it were on Florida’s ballot as a proposed constitutional amendment.
- Orlando area Democrats voiced their opposition to a new child detention center that’d potentially be based in Orange County.The Department of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services have been seeking a new location for a facility that’d be able to hold undocumented minors while they’re processed by the legal system.
