Selfies: Out Group shots: In

Bottom Line: It would figure that just about at the point where Ashley and I have figured out how to actually take a selfie with both of us in a shot – they'd be on the way out. But such is the case according to a new study from Washington State University. Well, to be accurate true selfies, where there’s really just one person in the shot are generally disliked. Group shots, which I suppose our often off-centered goofy looking duet, would be preferred.

The study compared actual Instagram pics of peeps asking users to rate which pics they preferred and how they felt about the pictures. The results were overwhelming. The selfies were generally viewed negatively by most people with the group shots generally being viewed positively by most people. The pics were all in context. Similar locations, people, environments, etc. The only difference was the selfie vs. “posie” pics. Here’s the summation statement by the lead researcher: Individuals who post a lot of selfies are almost uniformly viewed as less likable, less successful, more insecure and less open to new experiences.

And boom goes the dynamite.
