  • Former Broward Sheriff Scott Israel was recommended for removal, supporting Governor DeSantis’s decision to suspend him on a 9-7 party line vote by the Senate Rules Committee. Republican Senator Tom Lee abstained from voting. The resolution will go to the full Senate on Wednesday for a final vote. 
  • Florida’s finalizing the proposed rules for its recently authorized hemp growing program. Under the proposal which requires authorization from the US Department of Agriculture, licenses would be issued for 12 months at a time, would test and regulate THC levels in harvested crops and would treat hemp as a potentially invasive species. 
  • A survey of the top cities for Florida tourists taken by Trips to Discover ranked Jupiter #1 with a perfect 100% score. St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Pensacola and Naples rounded out the top five. West Palm Beach was 7th with an 87, Fort Lauderdale was 17th with a 69 and Miami 18th with a 63.
  • The Coral Gables ban on Styrofoam containers will be taken to the Florida Supreme Court to see if it’s lawful for a municipality to place a ban on Styrofoam. Passed in 2016,the ban has been under legal challenges since.
