- Governor DeSantis announced, with Education Secretary Richard Corcoran, that as part of Florida’s new curriculum – there will be a civics test for graduating seniors. The test would reflect tenants of the US citizenship test for immigrants. They announced that tests related to Common Core will be eliminated so that there will still be fewer, but more specific tests applied to Florida’s education establishment.
- According to the Florida Department of Health, a second vaping related death has occurred in our state. 48 deaths have been officially recorded nationwide. Florida also now has a total of 103 vaping illness recorded as well.
- A record six tagged great white sharks are currently being tracked in Florida’s waters. Four have been spotted between Daytona Beach and Jacksonville while two are in the Gulf off the South West Coast of Florida
- Governor DeSantis is reinstating suspended Hallandale Beach Mayor Joy Cooper after she was found not guilty of corruption charges. She had been suspended by Governor Rick Scott following an arrest in 2018.
- The Sigma Chi fraternity at the University of Central Florida has been suspended after a student reported being blindfolded and forced to do cocaine and remain at the house for a week as part of initiation.
