  • The latest Census estimates suggest Florida should gain two Congressional seats and two votes in the Electoral College upon the completion of the 2020 Census. Only California and Texas have greater political influence nationally than Florida.
  • Disney has announced the 2020 Florida resident ticket discount plan. Today through June 27, three day “Discover Disney” tickets with be $175 per person and must be used by the end of June. Three-day Florida “flex date” tickets, that may be used at any time, are $316. 
  • More than a fifth of all New Yorkers who left the state during the previous decade relocated to Florida according to an Empire Center study of IRS data. All in, 21.3% or 298,000, New York residents existing New York since 2010 have relocated to Florida with an average annual income of $90,310.
  • Related, Florida gained $16 billion in adjusted gross income last year based on the migration to Florida from other states leading the country. That was up 3% from the prior year. 
  • Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis has issued a warning about using home DNA kits. He stated: With 20 military bases in our state, it’s significant that the Pentagon recently issued a memo warning about the risks associated with taking at-home DNA tests for members of our military. In the age of digital hacks, you must do everything you can to protect your information from falling into the wrong hands. As DNA testing becomes more popular, we must ensure consumers and our military service members are protected.The timing of the warning is due to thousands of Floridians having received these kits as gifts during the holidays.
