- Based on new diagnosed COVID-19 cases from the five Northeast Florida counties, including Duval – home to Jacksonville -which reopened their beaches April 17th - there’s no indication of community spread due to the reopening of beaches. Key West has reopened beaches and parks making it the first municipality in South Florida to make the move.
- Related – at Governor DeSantis’s press conference at Tampa General Hospital, CEO and Re-Open Florida Task Force member Dr.John Couris said...We are ready to open. And I’m not only speaking for Tampa General Hospital but probably speaking for every hospital across the state.
- The FAA has authorized a plan to allow CVS and UPS to team up for drone deliveries of prescription drugs in the Villegas. The program commences Friday and could become a precursor for many more across the state in the near future.
- The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced that after keeping the Connect website down Thursday night thru Monday morning to focus on processing existing claims, 35% of all claims have been processed and 20% have been paid. The state still has about 1.2 million claims it need to process. For claims that have been verified – 79% have been processed and 47% have been paid. Miami-Dade leads the state in claims, followed by Broward and Palm Beach County is fourth.Adjusted for population size – Monroe has been the hardest hit in the state since the pandemic began.
