- A lawsuit against the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity seeking class status for the failed claims process has been dismissed by a Leon County judge.The lawsuit sought quicker processing of claims, however under the law there isn’t a mandated timeline that’s violated. Governor DeSantis has tasked Florida’s Inspector General with investigating the failed system & processing.
- Records from the Florida Department of Health for the past eight weeks show hospitalizations for the traditional flu reached the lowest figures on record in March and April as the COVID-19 stay at-home-orders took effect. The last flu outbreak identified in Florida occurred the week of March 22nd.
- The state’s first antibody test site has opened at Hard Rock Stadium as the testing begins to ramp up across the state. Premier Medical Associates became the first medial group offering the tests in Florida as they’re offering the tests in all of their locations which are largely in central Florida.
- Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation has set up a website for Floridians to report businesses who aren’t complying with proper safety standards as the state begins to reopen. The site helps explain what is and isn’t allowed under Florida’s current guidelines and will be updated ongoing through the phased reopening.
- The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels are coming to Florida tomorrow as they continue their Operation America Strong tour. They’ll first flyover Jacksonville at 11:40 Friday morning and by 1 in the afternoon will tour from Boca Raton south through Miami.
