- Florida’s Division of Emergency Management is stockpiling masks as part of this year’s Hurricane Response plan. According to Director Jared Moskowitz the state will have 10 million masks stockpiled for an emergency by June 1st. He also said the state has struck a deal with Honeywell for 12 million N95 masks over the next year.
- The Florida Department of Transportation announced 45 road projects statewide have been expedited due to lower traffic levels, allowing for the completion of projects 650 days sooner than originally anticipated(a savings of about two weeks per project on average). The top impacted projects have come on I-95, 274 & I-4.
- The Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a lawsuit against Aventura based investment firm TCA Fund Management. According to the SEC’s suit the company is alleged to have filed false financial reports with the SEC and used fraudulent accounting practices to lure investors into the fund which purported to produce 7% to 8% annual gains.On April 30th the fund began to wind down operations. The SEC is seeking the return of funds for investors along with the return of all ill-gotten gains by the principals behind the firm.
- While Disney Springs has announced a partial reopening starting May 20th, Disney World has opened up reservations effective July 1st. Disney hasn’t made an official announcement about the reopening but the online reservations feature opened up Monday.
