Attorney General Ashley Moody has issued a warning to families who may have a loved one in a nursing home or like facility. Her office is investigating stolen stimulus payments sent to patients of these care facilities. Yesterday she issued this statement: Please check on your loved ones living in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Ask if their stimulus payments have been received. If they haven’t, ask the facility’s management if they are holding the benefits. If they are, contact my office immediately. Florida’s State University Board of Governors issued a statement that Florida’s University campuses will reopen for the fall semester based on guidance provided from science and medical professionals. The Board is meeting May 28th to discuss specific steps for reopening.

The Army Corps of Engineers has designated the Everglades Agricultural Area reservoir project as a new project. By doing so funds have been diverted from working on the project further until next year. Senator Rubio along with Representatives Brian Mast and Francis Rooney are challenging the Army Corp on the decision. A joint statement to the Corp said:The Army Corps’ bureaucracy has proven an impediment to this vision shared by the President, Congress, and the State of Florida by incorrectly interpreting the law and insisting that the EAA requires a ‘new start’ designation.

The Archdiocese of Miami announced masses will resume in Broward and Miami-Dade a week from today, March 26th. Seating capacity will be limited and masks will be required except when receiving communion. Separate families will be socially distanced by six feet and hand holding and the shaking of hands won’t take place during mass. The Diocese of Palm Beach has announced a phased reopening which includes the resumption of masses next Monday, the 25th. Parishioners are encouraged to check with their local parish for specific guidance.
