- President Trump essentially announced the cancellation of the Republican National Convention in Jacksonville citing public health concerns as being paramount. GOP leadership will handle party business in Charlotte, the original intended location of the convention.
- WalMart has announced it will launch the next phase of their healthcare initiative, WalMart Health, in Florida starting in 2021. Jacksonville will be the first market to be brought online with what WalMart says will be low cost, accessible and comprehensive healthcare. The centers will offer full-service primary care, urgent care, labs and X-rays. Additional services will include mental health, dental and optical services.
- While it can’t be mandated, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and Miami Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez have now suggested citizens wear masks at home. Especially in multi-generational households. Gimenez, also encouraged families to socially distance at home.
- The Florida High School Athletic Association has voted to postpone fall sports until at least August 24th. The Association will next meet August 17th to make the next determination.
