  • The Florida Education Association, which has sued to attempt to prevent any classroom education in Florida this fall, has been granted an emergency motion for a hearing to take place today. The 30-minute hearing will be virtual this afternoon at one. The lawsuit was filed in Miami-Dade and the hearing will take place within its circuit court.
  • According to the Florida Public Service Commission, there was a 15.7% decline in wireline phone service in 2019 reaching a record low 1.6 million hardlines which are being used statewide. There are approximately 8 million households and businesses combined in Florida.
  • According to a report from the Urban Institute’s State and Local Finance Initiative, Florida’s tax revenue decline from March through May was less than the national average. Nationally states reported 29% local revenue year over year. Flordia’s decline was 26%
  • An overhaul of Florida’s prescribed burns process will enter phase two starting January 1st 2021. Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried in conjunction with the Florida Forest Service, announced an overhaul to the prescribed burn process which will provide a state certified training course to conduct burns and a rezoning based on population changes since 1992.
