  • The US Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted to approve the practice of prioritizing frontline healthcare workers and nursing home residents first as vaccines are rolled out nationwide. The approved plan is congruent with Florida’s three phase plan which prioritizes healthcare and nursing home residents in phase 1, at risk individuals in phase 2 and all others in phase 3.
  • While Florida received attention for passing a million COVID cases on Tuesday, in context fewer than 5% of Floridians have been diagnosed with the virus since the pandemic began. Additionally, total cases since the onset of the pandemic are in line with Florida’s population compared to the rest of the country, as are current active cases.
  • 30,000 FPL customers were three months or more behind on power bills entering December. That’s up from 6,000 a year ago. In context, the overall rate of delinquency remains low. FPL provides service to 5 million households and businesses.
  • Governor DeSantis announced Florida has received a $28 million federal grant to provide workplace assistance for Floridian’s who’ve lost work during the pandemic. CareerSource Florida will use the funds to assist with providing temporary jobs, job placement services and workplace training.
