Top Three Takeaways – December 9th
- Vanuatu. If you’re not familiar it’s a beautiful archipelago in the South Pacific. If you’re wondering why it’s my top takeaway today... It’s not vacation related. It’s about elections. According to Harvard University’s Election Integrity Project, they’re the country just ahead of us in election integrity. Seriously. That’s because the United States election integrity is so in shambles, ranking 57th in the world, that only Albania ranks worse than us among countries who hold democratic elections. It’s actually that bad. So, think about that the next time you hear a news reporter say there’s no evidence of voter fraud or there aren’t any meaningful irregulates. Perhaps if they spent time researching and reporting facts, like for example the results of Harvard’s Election Integrity Project rather covering for their preferred presidential candidate having “won” the election – we could advance 15 slots by the next election cycle to power past say Ghana. Yes, Ghana is fifteen countries ahead of us in election integrity. As always, two side to stories and one side to facts. Speaking of which...
- Michigan (31st), Pennsylvania (37th) Georgia (45th). Other than those being three contested states which are large enough to easily alter the results of the Presidential election, what’s that about? Those are their rankings in the United States relative to election integrity. So, the United States is 57th in election integrity, behind Vanuatu, and Michigan is 31st, Pennsylvania is 37th and Georgia is 45th within our country. So, in other words, in the country which ranks second to last among all democratic republics in the world, those states are all among the worst within it. But still, there’s no reason for concern, right? There’s no need for comprehensive investigations and a full accounting for what really happened within those states, right? There’s no real need for significant reforms in those states, correct? If this doesn’t illustrate the dearth of responsible news reporting which takes place anymore, I don’t know what would. And it’s not my goal to add any concern to your mind but when you think about the worst of the bunch being Georgia and the importance of those two Senate runoff elections being in them...
- Senator Rick Scott. Broward and Palm Beach County’s elections were as flawed as those run in the most incompetent counties in those three states today. We don’t need to revisit. Most of us lived it. But together we also saw to it that we fixed it. That started when then Governor Rick Scott kicked Brenda Snipes to the curb replacing her with Peter Antonacci and finished when Ron DeSantis did the same with Susan Bucher in lieu of Wendy Sartory Link. Perhaps it’s time for the Senator to kick off a new round of butt kicking to fix elections nationally with his proposed Voter Act to Prevent Election Fraud. Ironically proposed, in September prior to our election debacle. And in the spirt of our former Governor’s catch phase... Congress. It’s time to get to work. Either that or watch Albania pass us on the election integrity list.
