  • Florida had its second highest day of new reported COVID-19 cases on Wednesday with over 17,000 new cases. That’s led to a new weekly average for daily cases, nearly 15,000 per day over the past week. All zip codes in South Florida are now seeing an increase in cases over the past seven days.
  • While neither of Florida’s senators opted to contest the Presidential election results in any states, ten of Florida’s 27 representatives in the House did. This included South Floridian’s Carlos Gimenez and Brian Mast.
  • A new study by ValuePenguin shows the average increase in home insurance renewals will rise by nearly 12% as policies reset in 2021. There are wide variances based on carrier with increases ranging from no change to increases as high as 36.5%. Florida’s home insurance costs are already the highest in the country as we’re the highest risk state for damage due to natural disasters.
  • According to U-Haul's annual migration report shows Florida third in overall net relocations in 2020. The top two states for migration were Tennessee and Texas. California had the most defections of any state with Illinois having the 2nd highest population loss according to U-Haul's data.
