  • It’s take two (or three) for a Staples attempted buyout of Boca based Office Depot. After a 2016 attempt to buy the company was thwarted by local officials worried about losing the headquarters and potential headwinds with federal regulators, Staples is now back with a $2.1 billion offer to buy the company. The offer is $4.2 billion below the 2016 offer.
  • On back of over 11,500 new daily reported COVID cases on Monday, Florida’s daily average trend for cases rose again to just under 16,000 per day over the past week. A rise in cases has continued in every zip code in South Florida over the past week.
  • Florida immunized 28,000 Floridians on Monday with a COVID vaccine. The Florida Department of Health’s tracker now shows 548,000 Floridians who’ve received at least a first dose of a COVID vaccine. Approximately 40,000 people have received two doses completing the vaccination process.
  • FPL is preparing a four-year plan for submission to the Florida Public Service Commission. Under the plan power rates would rise by an average of 3.6% per year. The company is citing ongoing sustainable energy investment as a primary catalyst behind the proposed increases.
