County Offering Rental & Utility Assistance To The Tune Of $45 Million

Palm Beach County Commissioners have approved a plan to offer new aid to renters who are facing eviction due to hardships brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

The county is using the $45.2 million it received as part of the $25 billion in the federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program.

Applicants may also seek utility assistance through the county's community services department. Applications are being accepted at rentalassistancepbc.org.

Renters may receive up to 12 months of assistance, with up to three months in advance and the payments will be made directly to the landlord or the utility company.

Documents must be provided in order to qualify and priority will be given to those who have received an eviction notice, renters who have been unemployed for more than three months and households that make less than 50 percent of the area median income.
