  • November’s election turnout didn’t translate in Tuesday’s municipal elections. After turnout averaged 77% in November’s general election cycle, the second highest in Florida’s history, only 18.9% of eligible voters in Palm Beach County and 12.5% in Broward voted in Tuesday’s municipal elections.
  • Florida’s lower trend for new COVID cases continued on Tuesday. With 4,426 new cases reported by the Florida Department of Health, Florida’s weekly trend for daily cases dropped below 5,000 for the first since November 6th.
  • According to the daily vaccine report from the FDOH nearly 2 million Floridians have completed the COVID vaccination process. This includes 17,497 Floridians who’ve now been vaccinated with the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. 5.6 million total vaccine doses have now been administered statewide.
  • Leon County circuit court judge John Cooper dismissed the attempted class action lawsuit over the failures of the CONNECT unemployment system. The suit was brought against the state and Deloitte Consulting, the firm responsible for the flawed software which led to widespread issues with unemployed Floridians gaining access to benefits.
