- Florida’s COVID case trend continued lower on Wednesday as the Florida Department of Health reported 4,853 new cases. That total dropped the weekly average below 4,800 cases daily for the first time since November 6th.
- Over 2 million Floridians have now completed a COVID vaccination schedule based on Wednesday’s vaccine report. This includes 25,380 who’ve now received the one-dose J&J vaccine. An additional 1.75 million Floridians have had a first dose of a Moderna and Pfizer vaccine and are awaiting a second. Related...
- Governor DeSantis provided additional guidance regarding the expansion of eligibility for COVID vaccines. He’d recently said the next step will be to drop the age for eligibility to 60, followed by a drop to 55. On Wednesday, DeSantis said access will be opened to all Floridians once the age eligibility is dropped below 55.
- The governor signed off on changes for Florida’s clemency guidelines. Under the new policy, former felons who’ve completed all aspects of their sentence, including financial restitution, will automatically restore the rights to hold political office and serve on a jury. The change waives the previous 5-year waiting period for those rights to be restored.
