  • Florida’s recent trend of increased COVID-19 cases resumed on Wednesday with the Florida Department of Health reporting 5,294 new cases, bringing the weekly trend for daily cases back above 5,150 – the highest since March 8th.
  • Nearly 5.9 million Floridians have received at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine based on the most recent vaccine report. This includes over 3.3 million Floridians who’ve now completed the vaccine schedule.
  • More good economic news in Florida as the Legislature’s Office of Economic & Demographic Research reported monthly revenue continued to outpace expectations for the seventh straight month. Revenue to the state came in nearly $300 million above previous forecasts – which had already been revised higher. Recent reports will have a direct impact on spending decisions made by the State Legislature and Governor DeSantis during the state legislative session.
  • Governor DeSantis released a proposal calling for $1,000 bonuses to be paid to K-12 teachers and principals. The bonuses come on the heels of record pay increases for Florida educators passed in last year’s state session. He cited the return to classrooms during the pandemic for most teachers as a reason deserving of the bonuses.
