- Florida’s trend for new COVID-19 cases continued higher on Monday as the 4,237 new reported cases by the Florida Department of Health was higher than the prior Monday’s total leading to a weekly trend for cases above 6,700 per day – the highest since February 14th.
- Nearly 8.1 million Floridians have been vaccinated with at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This includes nearly 4.6 million Floridians who’ve completed a vaccine series.
- Governor DeSantis signed HB 1, or the so called “Anti-Riot” bill into law on Monday. The legislation, which defines what constitutes a riot in Florida, and increases penalties for offenders based on the size of a riot, took immediate effect upon the signing.
- The governor also signed the online sales tax collection bill into law. The legislation, which takes effect July 1st, mandates that all retailers selling merchandise online collect sales tax payable to the state – regardless of where the business is located.
