Top Three Takeaways – May 27th, 2021

  1. It’s only the beginning. Today’s Q&A starts out with a simple enough question. Why are you afraid of CRT? It's a THEORY! My answer could have been as simple as CRT being a distraction from the basics which are already not being effectively taught, as evidenced by only 27% of adults under 45 being able to pass a US Citizenship test. Instead, I chose the comprehensive path which explains the systemic effort by teachers' unions to undermine what Floridians want as they work to finish the radical transformation of education in our schools. By now we should know that what happens in other states will be attempted in Florida and what we’ve seen attempted. It has been. The initial effort to introduce BLM and CRT into Duval and Palm Beach County schools was ground zero in Florida. Also understand, even if you don’t have children in schools or if you don’t live in Duval or Palm Beach Counties, this is about you too. Just as CRT didn’t stop in California, Illinois or New York, it would never stop in those two counties in Florida either. This fight against the effort to institutionalize racism and Marxism in the education curriculum is every Floridian’s fight. The battle on Wednesday in Palm Beach County’s special school district session was only the beginning.
  2. Keep your eyes open. My best education sources are teachers. If you’re in public education and you’re concerned, you’re outnumbered as you’re likely aware, however you’re far from alone. Numerous educators have discreetly shared concerning information with me over the years through private email accounts. As the saying goes... If you see something, say something, applies here as well. I’m genuinely here to help if I can and you’re always welcome to email me brianmudd@iheartmedia.com. The only issue which has arisen for those who’ve shared concerning material with me is when they shared my material through a school issued email addresses. There’s no bigger issue than education in our country, there’s no more important place to start at reforming our education establishment than right here at home and I’m down for the cause. This of course goes for parents too. I’m here to help where I can.
  3. The big picture. For years when discussing the issue of rising healthcare costs, I’ve discussed the need to break the back of the insurance first model which prevents consumer price transparency and aids to serve the insurance industry and some healthcare establishments at the literal expense you and me. In education it’s the teacher’s unions. They’ve got to be defeated as currently constructed. In the past year alone, the Florida Education Association has fought to prevent classroom education from happening, fought to get in line for vaccines before seniors, fought the expansion of school choice and are currently fighting the state’s effort to ban critical race theory in schools. The FEA and all related teachers’ unions don’t want what most Floridians want, and their educational agenda is a that of radical leftist-Marxism – just like the political candidates they supported last year with 99% of their political contributions. With greater than 69% of teachers being part of unions, it’s time for every teacher who gives a damn about our state and the educational future of our kids to get out. It’s time to break the back of the era of teachers’ unions driving agendas in Florida. They are ground zero for our educational issues.
