- Thursday is typically the peak day for new COVID-19 case reporting and with only 1,878 new cases reported by the Florida Department of Health – Florida's weekly trend for cases fell to 1,627 daily cases. That’s the lowest total since June 13th of last year.
- 10.4 million Floridians have been vaccinated with at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine including 56% of adults. 8.4 million have completed a vaccine series.
- Mediation between the state of Florida, the Biden administration and the CDC over the CDC’s “no sail” order has failed. The mediation was ordered by a federal judge after Florida’s lawsuit contesting the CDC’s authority to issue “no sail” orders. This sets up a legal showdown in court between Florida and the CDC.
- Governor DeSantis announced the 2021 “Python Challenge” to remove Burmese pythons from the Everglades will take place from July 9th - July 18th. Winners in various challenges can receive up to $2500. While hunting pythons is legal year-round in Florida, the challenge is the only sanctioned activity that allows non-Floridians to participate.
