Top Three Takeaways – June 22nd, 2021

  1. Battleground Bombshells. If you’ve been desperately searching for political sanity in a world of daily WTF’s, Rick Scott’s battleground pollster has exactly what you’re looking for. From CRT to the perception of political parties the message is crystal clear. Solid majorities of Americans reject Joe Biden and Democrats on every major politically divisive issue right now. Critical Race Theory, Biden’s ability to lead, the border crisis, illegal immigration, inflation, spending, infrastructure, Iran, Israel, you name it – Americans oppose them. What’s more, Independents are currently 19% more likely to vote with Republicans next year at this point and the Republican party’s favorability rating is 12 points higher than Democrats. If this holds or continues to build, 2022 isn’t shaping up to be a wave election year for Republicans, it could be a tsunami. These indicators are stronger at this point in the cycle than they were in the summer of 2009 in advance of the Tea Party led Republican wave of 2010.
  2. (More) Room for optimism. Sticker shock has been real. There’s next to nothing you’re buying that you’re not paying more for, not that you need me to tell you that... However, there’s increasingly room for optimism. Three weeks ago, the US Dollar was worth 10% less than it was a year ago. Today, that’s down to 5% less. As the economy continues to grow, and without new authorized Congressional spending for free puppies and candy and Biden bucks and theoretical infrastructure projects, the economy is starting to catch up with the increased money supply from all of the “monetized” debt, IE invented money – which had been watering down the value of the dollar in your pocket. If Republicans and Joe Manchin can manage to keep Democrats from spending more money we don’t have, there’s a chance that in a matter of months the value of the US Dollar can recover, driving inflation back down. Those are if’s but they provide room for optimism.
  3. No longer a Court Divided? Unanimous rulings on high-profile cases aren’t exactly what the Supreme Court has been known for our in our lifetime. But another day, another high-profile ruling, another 9-0 decision. This one in favor of student-athletes over the NCAA. The same NCAA which thinks that men which identify as women should compete as girls, the same NCAA which threatened boycotts of Florida over Florida’s new law stating that men that identify as women and want to compete as girls can’t, lost again. And this time where it really counts for that body of woke social justice warriors and biology deniers... In the wallet. The United States Supreme Court didn’t just unanimously smack down the NCAA’s challenge to laws like Florida’s which will enable student athletes to profit off of their likeness, they sent a message...calling into question their ability to earn billions of dollars off of the athletes without compensating them. Meaning this smackdown could be just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what student athletes can earn and what the NCAA can keep. You might say the Supreme Court indicated the woke social justice warrior sellouts at the NCAA are enslaving their athletes. Maybe that’s why they’ve been projecting? There’s no sweeter college game to be played this year than the high stakes one the NCAA just lost.
