Picture yourself rappelling 19 stories down a building, all to help local families achieve the dream of home ownership.

"We wanted to move away from the traditional charity galas of the past to do something that can engage the community a little more and bring a different level of excitement to Palm Beach County."

Mitchell Fratrik is the Development and Sponsorship Coordinator with Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County and he's talking about the "Over the Edge" fundraiser coming up October 15th and 16th in West Palm Beach.

While Mitchell admits he has a fear of heights, he'll be taking part in the event, and says that's the point.

"We want to bridge the gap between that fear that you would experience when hanging over the edge with those that a Habitat family has to work through before they're moving into a new Habitat home."

Fratrik says the median home price in Palm Beach County has increased nearly 30 percent year-over-year, making it even more difficult for local families to achieve their dreams.

All Habitat families help build their own homes and pay off a 30-year interest-free mortgage.

As for the fundraiser, individuals can sign up, along with corporate teams and raise money through sponsors.
