Top Three Takeaways – August 11th, 2021

  1. Nomo Cuomo. Ok, so Andrew Cuomo decided to sack himself before the New York state legislature sacked him. Fine and frankly, despite the seeming surprise of many by his willingness to step aside, it was always the most likely outcome once it was clear the votes were there in Albany to impeach him. Was the expectation really that he’d wait until law enforcement removed him from his office? So, nomo Cuomo, at least for now, and given the credibility issues of his brother – who knows maybe CNN will make it a double-nomo Cuomo event...though I wouldn’t count on it. When was the last time CNN did the right thing? Or cared about credibility? Regardless, here’s the thing. And to me it will always be the biggest thing to this story because it’s a statement on the sad state of society and specifically that sad state of New York. Andrew Cuomo made the decision to send COVID-19 positive people into nursing homes rather than use the resources provided by the Trump administration. The decision led to widespread outbreaks leading to thousands of seniors dying unnecessarily. Because Cuomo was busy with his daily propaganda sessions on TV which he used to raise his profile and sell a $5 million book deal, he falsified reporting of COVID-19 positive nursing home related deaths. By 50%! 50%! According to an investigative report from the New York state attorney, Andrew Cuomo intentionally covered up the deaths of 4,343 seniors who died specifically because of his decision making to reject federal assistance. That report was released in January. So, Cuomo can be responsible for and cover up the deaths of 4,343 people and the state legislature and the left generally are fine looking the other way. But 11 credible witnesses depicting sexual harassment is a bridge too far? There really aren’t words but that in a nutshell helps illustrate how jacked up the priorities of many the left really are. And that those elements are allowed to drive the agenda in pop culture explains the rest. Meanwhile in Florida...
  2. The poll you aren’t hearing about this week. Last week a gleeful news media reported on a poll depicting Charlie Crist leading Ron DeSantis in the 2022 governor’s race. I reported on reality (that the St. Pete poll cited, missed 2018’s outcome by six points – or twice their margin of error, that they’ve consistently been the outlier in polling DeSantis weaker than any other pollster and that he’d actually gained two points in that poll over their previous one). Here’s a poll you aren’t hearing about this week. DeSantis hasn’t lost any support over the past month and leads Crist by 8-points and Fried by 9. Gee, I wonder why. This only further reinforces my reporting and analysis from last week and provides yet another example of how the most pervasive form of bias in news media is omitting information. It also shatters the narrative that Floridians generally want a nanny state governor and that’s in part because there are ever fewer...
  3. Democrats in Florida. The most consistent trend in Florida this year has been the Democrat party losing voters. The Florida Division of Elections released the monthly update for voter registration on Tuesday and it was telling. Democrats lost another 12,482 voters in June and have now lost nearly 81,000 on the year. This as Florida gains around 1,000 new people a day. And the end result is yet another month in which Democrats hold their slimmest lead in voter registration over Republicans in Florida’s history. Two takeaways are clear. Americans fleeing to Florida, even from blue states, aren’t generally Democrats and Floridians in general aren’t picking up what Biden and company are putting down.
