Florida COVID-19 Vaccination Rates By Age – September 14th, 2021
Bottom Line: COVID-19 vaccination rates have continued to rapidly rise in Florida. Once we had the summer surge in cases many who’d been on the fence about getting vaccinated got off of it and became immunized. This is led to a majority of all eligible Floridians at all age levels having been immunized with at least a first dose most recently.
Florida’s overall vaccination rate now stands at 69% for those 12 and older who are vaccine eligible. Florida’s vaccination rate remains higher than the national average as we rank 20th overall. Though there’s a new wrinkle this week. The lowest vaccination rates are no longer among those between the ages of 12-19. It’s 20-somethings who are the least likely to have received a COVID-19 vaccine in Florida. It’s the first time we’ve seen vaccination rates not rise progressively with age.
Here’s an updated look at completed vaccination rates by age:
- 12-19: 52%
- 20-29: 50%
- 30-39: 60%
- 40-49: 69%
- 50-59: 75%
- 60-64: 82%
- 65+: 88%
With Florida’s 20-somethings being the least likely to have received a COVID-19 vaccine they also stand to be the most impacted by President Biden’s recent announcement of a COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Should that rule go through about 75% of Florida’s workforce will be impacted. As of today, approximately 64% of Florida’s workforce has been vaccinated. That’s close to a million Floridians currently in the crosshairs of the mandate. I’ll be curious to see vaccination activity over the next week to see if there’s a noticeable impact of the threat of job loss by Joe Biden on Florida’s vaccination rates.
