A landmark Halloween event has been canceled for the second year in a row.
The City of West Palm Beach announced on Thursday that MoonFest won't be happening this year.
The event has been taking place along Clematis Street in the downtown area for nearly three decades, but got the bump due to the pandemic in 2020 and it appears COVID is also getting the blame for 2021's cancelation.
A statement from the city says organizers of MoonFest "decided against producing the event this year," citing their "inability to comply with the city's safety requirements."
The city says the public's safety "is and always will remain our top priority."
While a good deal of MoonFest takes place outdoors, attendees often bring the party inside at several area bars and clubs.
The city will be hosting what it calls family-friendly Halloween fun on Thursday, October 28 on the Great Lawn in a special Clematis by Night event titled "Clematis by Fright" from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
There's also the FrankenFountain shows that are underway each night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. through Halloween. The Halloween-themed music and light shows happen at the Centennial Fountain every 15 minutes.
