The Florida Department of Health has issued advisories due to high levels of dangerous bacteria in the water at several beaches.
They include Carlin Park in Jupiter, Riviera Beach, Phil Foster Park in Riviera Beach, Boynton Beach in the town of Ocean Ridge, the Town of Palm Beach's Municipal Beach and Kreusler Park in Lake Worth Beach.
While the cause of elevated levels of the bacteria is unknown, the Health Department says that heavy rains, high surf and heavy traffic can contribute to it.
More samples will be taken from each of the areas to determine whether the levels have gone down.
