- Recent movers in the state legislative session included the Pharmaceutical Bill. The legislation aimed at eliminating unnecessary third parties for the purchase and distribution of prescription drugs passed its final house committee on a unanimous vote and is ready for a final vote in the legislature. The senate companion has already passed this session.
- Governor DeSantis’ nominations for the state’s health agencies, including Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo, are ready for full confirmation votes before the state senate after clearing the Senate Ethics and Elections Committee. All Democrats opposed Dr. Ladapo who took a strong stance against many COVID recommendations by the federal government, including child vaccinations, upon becoming the state’s Surgeon General during the pandemic. Boca Democrat Tina Polsky was especially outspoken saying he’s not qualified to be the state’s top doctor.
- Gas prices dropped a penny on Monday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.70 per gallon – 8 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price remains $3.88 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
- An annual report from WalletHub on the best large cities to start a business shows currently that the top four are in Florida. #4 Tampa, #3 Miami, #2 Jacksonville, #1 Orlando.
