- As he hit the campaign trail on Tuesday, Governor DeSantis signed three bills into law. They are the Transportation Facility Designations bill, which designates approved street names statewide. In Palm Beach County Glades Road between Dixie Highway and Federal Highway in Boca is now designated as “Lois D. Martin Way”. The Environmental Protection bill which aims to curb septic waste pollution and improve wastewater treatment is now law as is the Early Childhood Music Education Incentive Program which will expand music education in schools statewide.
- With Hurricane Season set to begin tomorrow, the National Hurricane Center is tracking a disturbance in the Gulf which is currently being given a 20% chance of development as it approaches Florida later this week. Regardless of development, heavy rainfall is expected as it makes its way to and across the state.
- West Palm Beach residents are being advised that a suspicious person posing as an FPL contractor is attempting to enter homes. The man approaches homes stating he needs to enter to perform work on behalf of FPL, however FPL confirmed to CBS 12 that they never go door-to-door except during emergencies and don’t recognize the person posing as an FPL worker.
- Gas prices were flat yesterday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.41 per gallon – two cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.61 per gallon, which is the second highest in the state.
