- Governor DeSantis signed 17 bills into law on Monday including the Homeowners’ Associations bill in which HOA board members who mislead or withhold financial information from homeowners could face criminal charges. The Fiscal Accountability Act is now law which requires state government transparency online with any state funds being used for contract services. Also, the State Minimum Wage bill is now law. This impacts which workers are eligible for minimum wage under state law. The bill specifically exempts minor league baseball players from the state’s minimum wage.
- Three-term Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg won’t be running for re-election. Citing that the position isn’t meant to be a lifetime career, he made the announcement that he wouldn’t be running for re-election on Monday without offering guidance about future plans.
- A new Bankrate.com analysis found Florida’s average auto insurance premium is now $3,183 for comprehensive coverage – 37% higher than the national average and the most expensive in the country. Florida is currently the third highest risk state to drive in based on claims data and is the highest for legal payouts related to auto claims data.
- Gas prices were flat on Monday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.47 per gallon – 13 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.63 per gallon, which is the highest in the state.
