- In advance of the start of the new school year, which is set to begin on Thursday in the Palm Beaches, the Florida Department of Education has announced the current version of the AP Psychology course will be available and taught in Florida’s schools this year. Last week Florida’s Department of Education asked the College Board for an amended version of the course which wouldn’t include gender identity related material, however The College Board refused and said Florida was “effectively banning” the course in the state. Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. penned a letter in response indicating that the state would use the existing curriculum in order to offer the course.
- A new report by the US Chamber of Commerce identifies South Florida’s Miami metro as being the 2nd most susceptible to AI job loss over the next five years. A total of 15% of existing jobs are thought to be lost due to the implementation of AI technologies. More positively...
- Florida is in the midst of a manufacturing job boom. Since January of 2021 Florida’s added the 3rd most manufacturing jobs in the country, greater than 37,000, and has had the fastest growth rate (10%) in adding manufacturing jobs in the country during this time.
- Gas prices trended slightly lower through the weekend. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.82 per gallon – 2 cents lower than Friday, though 16 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.96 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
