  • Brightline’s Orlando service launch will be delayed. Originally scheduled for a September 1st start, Brightline won’t be offering service as soon as planned. In announcing the delay on Monday – they didn’t offer a new start date. Those who purchased tickets for impacted dates will receive a refund plus a credit for premium service.  
  • The Riviera Beach Police Department has announced a new task force which will focus on cleaning up issues within the community that contribute to crime. An initial focus will be on removing trash, abandoned vehicles, improved sidewalk maintenance and clearing out squatters from buildings and homeless camps.  
  • Sex trafficking arrests have been made in Lake Worth Beach following a tip from the owner of the Lago Motor Inn. The owner noticed suspicious activity in one of the rooms and notified authorities. PBSO’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking unit arrested Maria Barrios Calero and Ricardo Flores, both 44, in conjunction with the solicitation of minors.  
  • Six Florida cities, including Palm Beach, are among the most picturesque small towns in America according to an analysis conducted by the North Carolina Travel Guides. Seaside ranked highest among the Florida cities at 14th, St. Augustine is 28th, Apalachicola is 37th, Cape Canaveral is 108th. Palm Beach ranks 63rd nationally. Fredericksburg, Texas ranks 1st nationally.   
  • Gas prices dropped a penny on Monday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.81 per gallon – 6 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.95 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
