  • West Flagler Associates, the group opposed to sports betting in Florida, has filed a petition for a rehearing in the case involving the 2021 Seminole Compact signed by Governor DeSantis and the Seminole Tribe enabling sports betting. The petition will result in a D.C. Circuit Appeals court reviewing the request, which could lead to a hearing in front of the full court. Recently a three-judge panel overturned a previous ruling blocking the Compact in 2021. The legal process is likely to result in the Seminoles waiting to see what happens prior to a possible relaunch of sports betting which was online for a few weeks in November of 2021.  
  • Martin County officials are reporting progress with the use of a chemical aimed at killing toxic algae in area waterways. The county reached out to the South Florida Water Management District for assistance in combating toxic algae. The District recommended a contractor for cleanup which uses a “peroxide kind of chemical” which is proving effective in combating the growth of algal blooms.    
  • Palm Beach Gardens will be the new home for Revere Payments, a payment processing company, which is relocating from Las Vegas. The company will add approximately 100 corporate positions once the relocation is complete. The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County notes the Palm Beaches are now home to over 500 corporate headquarters.  
  • Gas prices were higher on Monday, rising seven cents per gallon. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.80 per gallon – 1 cent lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.94 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
