- Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. is calling the Florida Education Association’s annual report on teacher vacancies a “blatant lie”. The FEA’s report suggested that as many as 7,000 teacher vacancies exist across the state – however the Florida Department of Education’s report issued on Tuesday, shows a total of 4,776 vacancies statewide – or about 1.3 on average per school. That figure is approximately 10% lower than last year’s total.
- Lake Worth Beach voted to take the next steps in potentially reopening the municipal pool which has been closed since 2016. The Tuesday vote by the city council called for a determination of what the cost of reopening the pool would be. Expectations are that if reopened the space would be reimagined adding amenities along with aquatic activities and sports. Related...
- Lake Worth Beach is also considering a plan to upgrade the city’s municipal golf course which runs along the Intracoastal Waterway. The course’s director has recommended $2 to $2.5 million in enhancements which could begin with the City’s new fiscal year in October.
- Gas prices rose by 4 cents on Tuesday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.84 per gallon – 5 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.97 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
