⦁ The tropics remain active led by Hurricane Lee – which has rapidly strengthened into a category 5 hurricane with top winds of 160 mph. The hurricane will likely take a northern turn prior to reaching the Bahamas. Tropical storm Margot has also formed in the eastern Atlantic and is expected to become a hurricane but without posing a threat to populated areas.
⦁ The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments regarding Florida's abortion law signed last year which limits abortions to 15 weeks in most instances. The law has been challenged by Planned Parenthood. Florida passed a subsequent law this year limiting abortions to 6 weeks with exceptions, however the status of that law is pending the outcome of the legal challenge to last year's law before the court.
⦁ FPL has announced they'll have a new hydrogen power plant online in Okeechobee County in aproximately four months. FPL says the Nextgen Hydrogen Hub is revolutionizing green energy. The plant will power 350,000 homes once it goes online and is a first-of-its kind plant in Florida.
⦁ Gas prices were two cents lower Thursday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is ⦁ $3.63 per gallon – 6 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.82 per gallon, which is the second highest price in the state.
