- Two disturbances are active in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Sean has weakened into a depression and is expected to dissipate in the mid-Atlantic. Another disturbance off the coast of Africa is being given a 30% chance of development over the next week.
- The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has increased patrols around religious buildings including temples and mosques as the Israel-Hamas war, brought about by the Iranian-sponsored Hamas terror attacks, has increased activism around the world. PBSO encourages anyone who sees or hears of threatening activity to report it immediately.
- Seven Haitian illegal immigrants were apprehended in Manalapan after beaching their boat and fleeing on land. PBSO is still searching for two additional people who were spotted on the boat. Authorities also recovered 460 pounds of marijuana. The apprehension comes a day after 18 illegal immigrants were detained by Martin County police near the Stuart Causeway.
- A study of Trip Advisor reviews of beaches in which travels mentioned water clarity included three Florida beaches among the top ten. Crystal Sands Beach in Destin was #2 in the US and the top ranked in Florida, Santa Rosa Beach was #6 with Bahia Honda State Park 7th.
- Gas prices are three cents lower today. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.39 per gallon – 13 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.61 per gallon, which is the 6th highest price in the state. Oil prices are flat to higher after a 4% increase to start the week resulting from the Israel-Hamas war.
