A Massive US Terror Threat, Florida’s Congressional Map & Florida’s Support for Israel - Top 3 Takeaways – November 1st, 2023
- War, huh, yeah what is it good for? Edwin Starr’s Vietnam anthem is wise in its own ways, but entirely impractical in others. As we learned at Pearl Harbor and on 9/11, wars and jihad’s that start overseas don’t always stay overseas. The question really comes down to a matter of priorities. Your faith, your family, your career, your retirement. These are probably your priorities today. Wars thousands of miles a way...not so much. But because President Biden’s feckless existence in his current occupation makes the world less safe, here we are as the world’s bad actors continue to take advantage of the weakness he projects. And once again it makes all of us less safe. FBI Director Christopher Wray has now warned Congress that Hamas’ terror attacks on Israel could lead to ISIS styled terror attacks once again here at home. Quoting Wray: We assess that the actions of Hamas and its allies will serve as an inspiration, the likes of which we haven't seen since ISIS launched its so-called caliphate several years ago. In just the past few weeks, multiple foreign terrorist organizations have called for attacks against Americans and the West. The reality is that the terrorism threat has been elevated throughout 2023, but the ongoing war in the Middle East has raised the threat of an attack against Americans in the United States to a whole 'nother level. It is a time to be concerned. We are in a dangerous period. That gives you the warm and fuzzies right? The next fourteen months are going to be tough around the world and potentially right here at home with no shortage of bad actors who wish to do us harm and an open border that’s allowed over 3.8 million illegal immigrants from around the world who’ve either been released on the interior or who evaded Border Patrol since he became president. And it just so happens that on Tuesday there was more than Trick-or-Treating at the southern border. We learned for the first time that Border Patrol interdicted illegal immigrants crossing the border with explosive devices that were “tailored for terrorism”. The question is how many more may have, or soon will, make it in. But hey, at least there are still no Trump tweets. Once again being under the kind of terror threat that we haven’t been under since Joe Biden, not so coincidently, was Vice President really is just so much better than being safe under that uncouth Orangeman who projected strength...and who literally bombed the s*** out of ISIS, just as he’d promised. From Afghanistan to China, from Iran to Russia, from the southern border, to right here at home in Florida, Joe Biden’s very existence as President of the United States makes the world less safe and it’s a mistake many Americans who voted for him have since realized they made. This is the better news... Joe Biden now only has a positive approval rating in seven predominantly small states – Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. When you’re a Democrat and even a majority of Californians and New Yorkers aren’t picking up what you’re putting down that says something. And in Florida, ‘ole Joe’s down to 36% approval most recently. On one hand it makes you wonder who looks at three years of ‘Bidenflation and ‘Bidenomics and a world that’s on the brink of World War III as says, yeah give me some more of that guy’s sweet political action. On the other hand, when you look at how many people voted for him originally this is progress. In fact, massive progress. To put this in an Electoral College context, Biden has positive approval in states representing only 54 of the 270 necessary votes are currently looking at Joe Biden and thinking...yeah give me more of that guy’s sweet political action. Speaking of political action. Speaking of political action...
- DeSantis’ map’s surprisingly good day in court. After the United States Supreme Court whacked Alabama’s congressional map earlier this year while also pushing back on North Carolina’s it appeared increasingly likely that Florida’s might be next. But after Tuesday’s day in a federal appeals court DeSantis’ map just might make it. At issue, a north Florida district which had been a Black majority district represented by Al Lawson which was redistricted into a non-Black majority district resulting in a loss by Lawson last year. Florida’s current congressional map, which was drawn by Governor DeSantis, and ratified by the Legislature in a special session last year has faced lawsuits challenging it at both the state and federal levels. Up to this point the news hadn’t been so good for Florida’s current congressional districts. Previously a federal circuit judge ruled the map was unconstitutional but yesterday the 1st US Circuit Court of Appeal seemed to strike a different tone in their line of questioning. That included one judge who said that the plaintiffs are complaining about a gerrymandered map while arguing for a district (the Lawson district) that was a clear gerrymander previously. Two other judges were clearly skeptical of the arguments against the current map too. It remains unclear how the court will rule but that alone could be considered a win given how Florida’s map battle had been trending. November 22nd is the date we should have a decision by. But maybe, just maybe the DeSantis map will fly...for at least another election cycle.
- Florida’s support for Israel. Palm Beach County and the State of Florida are putting their money where their mouths are. It’s one thing to voice support for Israel (which is important and anything but a forgone conclusion in a society in which a majority of American Muslims were supportive of Hamas, with a total 14% of all Americans now shockingly backing Islamic terror). But as always actions and often money speak louder than words. Palm Beach County has announced it invested a total of $160 million in Israeli bonds since the horrific terror attack October 7th and Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis pledged another $120 million dollar investment bringing the total to $200 million for the state to date. Florida’s support for Israel is tangible and we’re literally financing Israel’s fight for their survival in as clear of a battle of good and evil as you’ll find.
