- Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Lapado has called for a halt to COVID-19 mRNA vaccines following and exchange with federal officials. Ladapo, and the Florida Department of Health alleged in a letter to the FDA and CDC in December that the potential for contaminated DNA, which could increase cancer risk among other potential issues, can be transmitted through the use of the vaccines. In a response from the FDA, Ladapo said the concerns weren’t addressed. Most recently Dr. Ladapo had only recommended COVID-19 vaccines for those over the age of 65.
- Wellington’s village council has approved changes to planned development with The Lotis Wellington project. A mixed-use development plan which will include 378 new apartment units, 50,000 square feet of medical office space, an entertainment complex, a dog park and a preserved recreation area was approved by officials. The 64-acre project is set to be built on State Road 7 near the Wellington Regional Medical Center.
- In Delray Beach a multi-family housing development featuring workforce housing is moving forward. The Flo Delray will be constructed on a 4.8-acre site at West Atlantic Avenue and Military Trail will include 116 units – 23 of which are dedicated for workforce housing. Construction is set to begin late this year or early next year.
- We have slightly warmer temperatures today that are in line with the seasonal averages. The highs will be in the lower to mid 70’s.
- Gas prices are lower again today. The average price statewide for regular unleaded is $3.03 per gallon - two cents lower than a day ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.19 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.14 and in Indian River County the average is $3.03 per gallon.
