- According to Florida TaxWatch, Florida’s manufacturing sector has grown large enough for the state to be considered a “manufacturing state”. In a just released report TaxWatch identified more than 25,000 manufacturing companies now operating within the state and a total manufacturing output that’s the 12th largest in the country.
- Following the recent decision to build its first Treasure Coast station in downtown Stuart, Brightline has announced plans to bring a station to the Space Coast. On Tuesday, Brightline stated their intentions to build a station in Cocoa Beach. This is in addition to the long-expressed desire to extend service across the state with a station in Tampa.
- Early voting for the March 19th Presidential Preference primary and municipal elections continues today. In Palm Beach County early voting will continue through Sunday. About 10% of eligible voters have either voted early or by mail thus far. In Martin and Indian River Counties early voting runs through Saturday. Martin County voter turnout currently stands at about 5% with turnout in Indian River County now over 13%.
- A warm day today with highs in the low 80’s, or about four degrees warmer than usual for this date. Temperatures are expected to remain warmer than usual for the next several days.
- Gas prices dropped another penny per gallon on Tuesday. The average price statewide for regular unleaded is currently $3.38 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.58 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.48 and in Indian River County the average is $3.43 per gallon.
