  • Governor DeSantis signed the Theft bill into law on Tuesday. The new law intended to combat the rise in retail theft and burglaries raises the punishments for organized retail theft, repeat offenders and burglaries on private property – including the theft of packages. The law takes effect October 1st.  
  • The US Coast Guard provided an operational update stating that between Sunday and Monday they’d intercepted three watercrafts loaded with migrants bound for the US. A total of 152 migrants from the Dominican Republic and six from Haiti were returned to their home countries. Related... 
  • Yesterday Florida Fish and Wildlife coordinated with the Coast Guard to intercept a vessel with 16 Cuban migrants bound for the Keys. The migrants were repatriated to Cuba. 
  • A sink hole opened up near Florida Mango Road and Waterside Drive in Palm Springs Tuesday night. Several residents are unable to access their homes and at least one homeowner has been evacuated. There are no injuries. The cause is being investigated by authorities including the Palm Springs Water Department following a recent report of a potentially damaged sewer line.  
  • Windy and warm today with highs in the low 80’s, about five degrees warmer than usual for this date. Temperatures are expected rise into the upper 80’s Thursday before a weak cool front moves in.  
  • Gas prices rose another four cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price statewide for regular unleaded is currently $3.53 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.72 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.61 and in Indian River County the average is $3.54 per gallon.
