  • Governor DeSantis signed two bills into law on Tuesday. The Alternative Mobility Funding System and Impact Fees bill will be law effective October 1st. The new law directs local governments on how to plan for and collect fees from developers through regularly updated studies. The Corporate Actions law takes effect July 1st. The new law further defines what are legitimate and illegitimate corporate actions for limited liability companies, corporations and not for profits in the state. 
  • West Palm Beach Police announced the details of a prostitution ring they recently took down on Tuesday. Called Operation Big Day, West Palm Beach Police made 26 arrests throughout the city. The arrests were the second phase of an effort that previously netted seven arrests. 
  • Lake Park officials are considering a proposal for a high-rise apartment building that would include 595 units downtown. The proposal calls for a mixed-use facility that would include a restaurant, office space, retail stores and a transit stop. City officials will vote on the proposal next month. 
  • The Florida Panthers have announced a Stanley Cup parade Sunday at 11. The parade will begin along A1A and Riomar Street at Fort Lauderdale Beach and will travel south for approximately a mile ending near Hotel Maren at Southeast 5th Street where a rally will take place following the parade. 
  • A mix of rain and clouds throughout the day today. Highs will be in the upper 80’s - slightly warmer than usual for this date. The National Hurricane Center is tracking two disturbances. A disturbance in the western Carribean is expected to emerge in the Southern Gulf of Mexico over the next week. It has a 20% chance of development. A new disturbance has developed in the southeastern Atlantic tracking westward towards the Leeward Islands over the next week – it has a 30% chance of developing. 
  • Gas prices rose six cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.40 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.55 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.42 and in Indian River County the average is $3.38 per gallon.
