The Second Trump Assassination Attempt – Top 3 Takeaways – September 16th, 2024
- We live in dangerous times. Those were the words of the Secret Service Spokesman alongside Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw during the Sunday afternoon press conference in which we learned that for the second time in nearly as many months there was an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life. The initial reports suggesting the shooting was unrelated to Trump we learned were incorrect. While it’s a sad commentary on the state of the human condition that we’re having this conversation yet again, just about everything about this attempt was different in a good way. This one happened in our backyard...in Donald Trump’s backyard (almost literally in his case). While we process what happened here...and continue to learn the details of went down around two in the afternoon yesterday at Trump International in West Palm Beach...what we know, and what Sheriff Bradshaw spoke to was...
- Great policework. On the one hand we had a man bent on committing evil. One AK-47. A Go Pro. A scope. Two backpacks. and his friend, playing golf at Trump International. A location just about everyone locally is familiar with. A location that was the site of the second assassination attempt of Donald Trump in two months and two days. As we’ve come to learn, the suspect Ryan Wesley Routh a 58-year-old white male from Greensboro, North Carolina who has lived in Hawaii, yet was still an active registered voter in North Carolina who voted in the state earlier this year. Yesterday we had what appears to have been a much more prepared Secret Service detail that thwarted what might have been. Based on what we know, the would-be assassin was waiting in the hedges on the other side of the fence on the side of the Trump International golf course waiting for Donald Trump to come within range. Secret Service detail working one hole ahead of the president spotted the assassin in the bushes and opened fire preemptively sending him fleeing – leaving his rifle, backpacks and other possessions at the scene while fleeing to a black Nissan that was nearby. A witness saw the suspect fleeing, captured the vehicle information, immediately relayed it to PBSO, who sent it out to all law enforcement agencies leading to the suspect’s identification and apprehension on I-95 in Martin County by the Sheriff's office. This was great preemptive police work by the Secret Service. There was great communication by PBSO between agencies and it was great police work by the Martin County Sheriff’s office to identify and to take down the wannabe assassin. This event didn’t take place because great police work at all levels took place. It’s quite the contrast to what took place just over two months ago in Butler, PA. It’s beyond unfortunate that this is the world we live in where Donald Trump is literally under attack these days. It’s clear that Donald Trump’s Secret Service detail is much better prepared. And for those of us who live in Palm Beach and Martin County – we know our sheriff’s offices are prepared. We’ve long benefited in these communities from great local police work, and it was on full display yesterday. But there’s still something that’s yet resolved. Why this is happening. - Who exactly is the “threat to democracy”? Quoting President Biden at a fundraiser earlier this year - There is one existential threat: it’s Donald Trump. Not Xi Jing Ping. Not Vladimir Putin, not the Mullahs in Iran, not Hamas, Little Rocket Man in North Korea. Not terrorists foreign or domestic. None of these people or groups were determined by the current President of the United States as the “one existential threat”. No, the greatest threat on this planet according to Joe Biden was Donald Trump. Remember that it was on a phone call with his donors that President Biden, less than a week before the first assassination attempt said, “It’s time to put Trump in the bullseye”? Was there ever any accountability for that kind of rhetoric, no? Was there ever an apology and acknowledgement that it was wrong? No. The only thing that’s changed is the presidential candidate. Enter into the conversation Vice President Kamala Harris. What is it that Harris has said about Trump? Quoting Comrade Kamala to MSNBC (regarding Trump’s comments about illegal immigrants): It is language that is meant to divide us. It is language that I think people have rightly found similar to the language of Hitler. We've seen this before, we know where this could go. So stand up and fight for what is right. Right, according to the vice president, Donald Trump has rightly been compared to Hitler and she called on people to “stand up and fight for what is right”. So, I’ll ask you again. Who is the real threat to democracy? Is it Donald Trump, who’s been targeted twice in nearly as many months for assassination, or is it Kamala Harris and Joe Biden and the DNC establishment at large who’ve radicalized their base into believing that Donald Trump is akin to Adolf Hitler? Your news media isn’t honest, so this conversation won’t be had. They won’t demand answers from Harris. They won’t demand a retraction from her rhetoric just as they didn’t from President Biden before her. Be it by the grace of God, and some great police work on Sunday, that Donald Trump is alive today. But make no mistake that what’s happened here and the threat that continues to be clear has causation. In July following the first assassination attempt I mentioned that Donald Trump's blood was on every Democrat's hands that falsely called him "a threat to democracy"... that falsely compared him to Adolf Hitler. So too was the blood of the murdered Trump supporter. In the words of former Attorney General and Trump critic Bill Barr following the first assignation attempt... “The Democrats have to stop their grossly irresponsible talk about Trump being an existential threat to democracy. He is not”. But they haven’t. They don’t. And a dishonest news media establishment is complicit. They must be defeated at the ballot box this November. It’s by the grace of God and great police work that Donald Trump’s alive today and it’s by your vote that Donald Trump will once again be President of the United States putting an end to the reign of those who’ve presented an actual threat to “democracy”, or our representative republic as this country happens to be.
