Today’s Entry: With the most recent attack on President Trump can you explain why there isn’t more news coverage on people who threatened violence or harm towards Donald Trump and His Supporters. These include: Maxine Waters, Johnny Depp, Elizabeth Warren, Madonna, Chuck Schumer, Cynthia Johnson, The current Democratic Nominee for President Kamala Harris. Yet the fake news networks continue to spread the lies that Trump is a Threat to democracy.

Bottom Line: I believe your question is rhetorical, yet your point is well taken. This is something I’ve specifically spoken to following each of the assassination attempts against Donald Trump. As I said following the first assassination attempt: Donald Trump's blood is on every Democrat's hands that have called him "a threat to democracy"... So too is the blood of the murdered Trump supporter and the others who were injured. In the words of former Attorney General and Trump critic, Bill Barr, following the assignation attempt... “The Democrats have to stop their grossly irresponsible talk about Trump being an existential threat to democracy. He is not”. And as I mentioned on Monday, that ties directly into the point you’re making: What is it that Harris has said about Trump? Quoting Kamala Harris to MSNBC (regarding Trump’s comments about illegal immigrants): It is language that is meant to divide us. It is language that I think people have rightly found similar to the language of Hitler. We've seen this before, we know where this could go. So stand up and fight for what is right. Right, according to the vice president, Donald Trump has rightly been compared to Hitler and she called on people to “stand up and fight for what is right”. So, I’ll ask you again. Who is the real threat to democracy? Is it Donald Trump, who’s been targeted twice in nearly as many months for assassination, or is it Kamala Harris and Joe Biden and the DNC establishment at large who’ve radicalized their base into believing that Donald Trump is akin to Adolf Hitler? Your news media isn’t honest, so this conversation won’t be had. They won’t demand answers from Harris. They won’t demand a retraction from her rhetoric just as they didn’t from President Biden before her. A dishonest news media establishment is complicit.

Those who’ve been familiar with my work over the past nearly three decades know that I don’t say those things lightly. But unfortunately, your point is on point. In the examples you named these are examples of the threats and the rhetoric against Donald Trump that they’ve made:

  • Maxine Waters: I will go and take Trump out tonight
  • Johnny Depp: When was the last time, an actor assassinated a president?
  • Elisabeth Warren: Take him out back – He’s a danger to democracy
  • Madonna: Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House

Chuck Schumer’s threats were actually aimed at the Supreme Court Justices and Michigan Rep. Cynthia Thompson threatened Donald Trump’s supporters. Ironically, she’s the only person who had any accountability for her threats as House Republicans stripped her of her committee assignments following the threats she made to Trump supporters on Facebook. But we don’t have to look any further back than this week to see the behavior continuing. It was just on Monday, one day, after the second Trump assassination attempt that Hillary Clinton said this on MSNBC: I don’t understand why it’s so difficult for the press to have a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is. His demagoguery, his danger to our country and the world. And stick with it. Now that’s not an overt threat, the likes of which others made, but it’s furthering the narrative that’s clearly activated two leftist lunatics. And that’s the bigger point here. Why has this been allowed to stand?

If you were to openly and publicly threaten and/or encourage violence against President Biden today, what would you expect to happen to you? So why is it that prominent leftists have been allowed to do this? You’ll often hear halfhearted comments from prominent figures suggesting that “it’s time to take the temperature down”. But the temperature never is taken down on the left and it’s allowed to persist. We all have freedom of expression in this country. None of us have the right to use that expression to encourage the harm of others – let alone a president. Until there is accountability under the law for those who encourage the harming Donald Trump and and/or his supporters I don’t believe the temperature will be taken down. Thus, I don’t expect the threat to become less. Yes, there’s rightfully a lot of focus on security failures and security concerns surrounding the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. What there hasn’t been is enough discussion of why the assassination attempts are happening in the first place.

Ryan Routh has literally repeated the words of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris – those of Trump being a threat to democracy. Is that just a coincidence? In recent years we’ve often spoken of the concerns of a two-tiered system of justice. One that’s been overlooked is the selective prosecution of those the Biden administration declared a “threat to democracy”. Those present at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 (who never had a chance of overthrowing the government) were determined to be threats to democracy. Those who threaten the former and potentially future president of the United States haven’t been determined to be threats to democracy unless they’ve had rifles in their hands in an attempt to kill him. Which side’s extremists have proven to be the biggest “threats to democracy”? Yet justice only flows in one direction under this administration. It’s but one of many necessary course corrections that need to take place in November’s election.
