  • The state of Florida has formally launched an investigation into FEMA. Attorney General Ashley Moody launched the investigation following the admission by the FEMA administrator that properties containing signs showing support for President-elect Donald Trump were passed over. According to FEMA a supervisor, who has since been fired, the order was issued to FEMA workers on the ground throughout the state after Hurricane Milton. The since fired supervisor has stated similar actions were taken in North Carolina.  
  • The City of West Palm Beach has filed a federal lawsuit against the Army Corps of Engineers stating that the recently enacted operating manual, which significantly reduces destructive eastern discharges into our waterways, violated its obligation under the Water Resources Development Act of 2000, to supply water for the city and others throughout South Florida. A hearing regarding the lawsuit has been scheduled for next week. 
  • Stuart is set to move forward with a project to underground powerlines in downtown areas. Yesterday city officials met with business owners about the project that aims to improve the ascetics and power reliability of the city. The estimated cost of the project is $9.7 million and is scheduled to commence in March and with a completion date of November 2027. 
  • Partly cloudy skies with cooler temps today. We’ll have highs in the low 80’s - which is typical for this date. The National Hurricane Center is tracking one system. Tropical Depression Nineteen has developed in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. The depression is expected to develop into a tropical storm today before interacting with Honduras and eventually the Yucatan Peninsula before potentially making its way into the Gulf. Some long-range models have the system making its way towards the Gulf Coast of Florida next week – however those concerns are premature. 
  • Gas prices dropped another three cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.02 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.20 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.00 and in Indian River County the average is $3.02 per gallon.
