- Flu cases remain low in Florida and across the country ahead of this week’s busy travel season according to CDC data. The H1N1 virus is currently the most common strain of the flu. Transmission is mostly occurring between children. Georgia and Louisiana are currently experiencing the highest rates of flu transmission with both states having ‘moderate’ levels of flu.
- If you’ll be flying this week the TSA recommends downloading the MyTSA app which provides real-time wait times for Palm Beach International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. - If you’re traveling locally, Brightline will be operating its normal schedule throughout the week including on Thanksgiving Day. According to AAA, this week is likely to set travel records.
- Boynton Beach’s oldest home, the Andrew House, which was built in 1907, is set to be demolished today. The one-time residence had most recently been converted into a museum prior to closing in 2011. The demolition will clear the way for new development.
- Cool temps and sunny skies today with highs in the upper 70’s - which is typical for this date. The National Hurricane Center‘s forecast is clear. There’s no expected activity for the next seven days as we head down the homestretch of hurricane season.
- Gas prices rose through the weekend and are slightly higher than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.13 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.29 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.19 and in Indian River County the average is $3.15 per gallon.
