Action. Accountability. Approval. Trump's First 3 Days – Top 3 Takeaways – January 23rd, 2025
- Action. If there’s one word used to summarize what President Trump’s first three days back as President of the United States have been it would be action. Action that now totals 42 executive orders, memoranda and proclamations amid greater than 200 total executive actions. Action as in 115 personnel changes to regain control of the federal government and to begin the process of reforming it – highlighted by the elimination of the DEI office and all its policies. Action as in Marco Rubio’s State Department ordering a “One Flag Policy” which mandates that only the United States flag is to be flown on federal properties anywhere in the world. Gone are the days of BLM & Pride flags flying alongside or even in place of the American flag. Action as in announcing the largest AI infrastructure project ever undertaken, the Stargate Project, and securing $3 trillion of new private sector investment within the U.S. highlighted by investments from Microsoft, Nvidia, Oracle, Open A.I. and Softbank (a number he projects to hit $7 trillion by the end of the week). Action as in immediately stopping 300,000+ would-be illegal immigrants from gaining access to our country, in large part due to immediately ending the Biden-era CBP One app used to fly them in. Also, on Tuesday, ICE’s deportation operation got underway with removing 308 criminal illegal immigrants, commonly guilty of sexual offenses and other acts of violence, that’d been allowed to roam freely. As I noted yesterday in breaking down President Trump’s 20-point plan to save America, by the end of his second day he’d already acted on literally half of that plan. We’ve never seen anything from a president previously like we’ve seen from President Trump so far this week. Around every single major policy issue, you’ll find action being taken and reforms in the making. You can count on a host of additional actions that will continue to pour in by the day as the new administration begins to shape. But we’re now also quickly arriving at the time for...
- Accountability. Most are familiar with the newly established Elon Musk-run Department of Government Efficiency with a stated purpose to right-size the federal government and save trillions of taxpayer dollars in the process. Making the federal government more accountable to you is a key priority of team Trump 2.0. However, few are familiar with the newly established Sanctuary Cities Enforcement Working Group. What is it? It’s the task force that was just established within the Justice Department under the Office of the Associate Attorney General. And what is said task force, tasked with doing? Quoting the directive: The Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution require(s) state and local actors to comply with the Executive Branch's immigration enforcement activities. Federal law prohibits state and local actors from resisting, obstructing, and otherwise failing to comply with lawful immigration-related commands and requests, pursuant to, for example, the President's extensive Article II authority with respect to foreign affairs and national security, the Immigration and Nationality Act, and the Alien Enemies Act. The Civil Division shall work with the newly established Sanctuary Cities Enforcement Working Group, within the Office of the Associate Attorney General, to identify state and local laws, policies, and activities that are inconsistent with Executive Branch immigration initiatives, and, where appropriate, to take legal action to challenge the laws. And there was this ditty that speaks directly to personal accountability for those state and local officials who continue to break the law by enforcing unconstitutional sanctuary policies... U.S. Attorneys Offices have been directed... Litigating components of the Department of Justice shall investigate incidents involving any such misconduct for potential prosecution, including for obstructing federal functions. So, to sum up the directive... The Justice Department is to identify unlawful sanctuary policies at the state and local level and legally pursue the eradication of them, and U.S. Attorneys are to pursue and prosecute any state and local officials who violate federal law by failing to comply. With many left-wing states and cities posturing as sanctuary destinations in advance of the Trump administration...stand by for news. Accountability should be coming. Notably, the Trump administration is so focused on getting the job done on so many fronts, that they’re not even waiting for the cabinet nominees to be confirmed by the senate this time. Only Marco Rubio was confirmed and in place at the time sweeping agency orders across most departments began to be issued. And as for what the country thinks...
- Approval. Notably, the more we see and hear of what President Trump is doing this week the more we like it. Trump’s mandate was already there, having won the largest victory by a Republican president in 36 years. His transition was highly approved of as he surged to record popularity with an approval rating of 52% preceding Inauguration Day. But what about today? In an average of all accredited polls Donald Trump has now set a new personal best with a 53% approval rating compared to just 41% disapproval. That’s an impressive spread for someone who never once had a positive approval rating during his first term in office. But more impressive still, is the most recent temperature check of all. The most recent poll to roll in, and the first that was sampled after Trump’s inauguration, is an Economist/YouGov poll. One week ago, that poll had Trump sporting a 48%-39% approval to disapproval rating. Yesterday the same poll showed Trump with 54% approval to 38% disapproval – good for a 7-point improvement during Trump’s first three days in office and a new personal best not just in that poll but in any poll. As Trump would say...Promises made. Promises kept. People are paying attention and they’re increasingly excited to see Trump wasting no time in Making America Great Again.
