Workforce Realities from PBC to Washington D.C. – Top 3 Takeaways – February 19th, 2025
- 16.4 million. I’ll start with a question today. Have you ever been fired, or laid off as the case happened to be? There’s a good chance that you have. That's because over 40% of people in the workforce right now have been forced to change jobs at least once. What’s more is that 23% of people in the workforce have been pushed out the door three or more times during their career. As unpleasant as it can be – firings, layoffs, are an entirely normal thing. In the private sector that is. What does the 16.4 million number represent? That’s how many people were fired/laid off within the private sector last year. That’s right, about 45,000 people per day are made to pursue new opportunities or perhaps are even forced to change careers – that is in the real world. And of the greater than 16 million layoffs last year, about a million of them happened in Florida. In other words, everyday an average of 3,300+ Floridians working in the private sector are fired/laid off each of the 365 days a year. What this means is that there’s likely not a day that goes by where someone who lives close to you hasn’t had this happen to them. Now when was the last time that news crews went to your neighborhood to report on those who were forced to find new work? After all it’s a story they could research and report on literally seven days a week – if they cared to – of course. As it turns out... we’ve finally found what jobs really matter to those who work in your godless, soulless and slanderous news media. Government jobs. Especially...
- Federal government jobs. As of Tuesday, an estimated 200,000 federal government employees had been introduced to new opportunities courtesy of DOGE’s efforts to reduce government waste within the Trump administration. Headlines like this one from CBS News are now being reported just about everywhere: Federal workers express shock, anger over mass firings, or this one from the Associated Press: Anger, chaos and confusion take hold as federal workers face mass layoffs. Anger and shock are natural emotions for one who’s laid off to express...unfortunate for those caught up in the layoffs – no doubt. But it’s not exactly news. Again, this happens to an average of 45,000 people in the private sector every day. But you don’t have to even look beyond local news headlines to find this agenda in play. For example, WPTV brought you this one: Disabled veteran says he was impacted by mass federal layoffs. With the headline inside the story reading: It feels like we don’t matter. Incidentally, that was right next to their story entitled: Trump begins firings of FAA air traffic control staff just weeks after fatal DC plane crash. Btw, spoiler alert – no air traffic controllers were fired. In any event, whether it’s Scripps, WPTV specifically, or the AP nationally – it's quite clear to see what the agenda was/is designed to do. And as an aside, because it’s easy to sympathize with the disabled veteran who honorably served our country... There are an average of 1,400 veterans laid off in the private sector every day – 87 of which are fired in Florida per day, about 17 of which, according to the VA, have a service-connected disability. Sad as it is – these stories are there for reporting every day...that is if these news organizations had something other than an anti-Trump agenda they were actually interested in. And here’s the kicker. As numerous news organizations are quick to share the plight of laid off federal government employees who’re determined by DOGE to be unnecessary...there’s quite the earnings dichotomy. What do you think the average total annual compensation is for the average federal government employee? The answer is $143,643. How about in the private sector most recently? For the average full-time, 40-hour employee, the total compensation value was $92,352, or 36% less than the average federal government employee. Apparently in the eyes of the anti-Trump media it’s the obligation of those earning 36% less than federal government employees to...
- Work and pay taxes to support the jobs, high salaries and great benefits of federal government employees (whether they’re needed in the federal workforce or not). So how compassionate are these media outlets really? Don’t be duped and don’t be fooled. Are good people getting caught up in the federal layoffs? No doubt. Just as good people in much larger numbers get caught up in layoffs day in and day out in the private sector. What’s being attempted here is nothing more than a smear of DOGE and the Trump administration. But as always there are two sides to stories and one side to facts. Now you have the facts that better help put what’s happening here in perspective. And just as it’s not as surprising to see any private company that’s suffering a debt crisis and that’s forced to enter bankruptcy shedding jobs. It shouldn’t be surprising to see an entity – the federal government – that's $36.5 trillion in debt and rising, shedding jobs, because if it were a company, it’d already be in bankruptcy. On that note...how much is your stake? The debt per US citizen, meaning every senior in retirement, and every baby being born today is up to $107,238. Aside from the federal taxes you already pay, what would you say if the federal government handed you a bill for an additional $107,238 (and rising)? Do you think it would be appropriate perhaps, for the federal workforce, among other things to shrink? The fact of the matter is that DOGE’s work just might save this country. The status quo that’s advocated by most journos would surely sink it eventually.
